Four years of Helen! 🎉 Today we’re celebrating our fantastic Financial Controller – our true Accounts Guru – as she marks her 4th work anniversary with us. But Helen is so much more than numbers and spreadsheets. She’s the go-to listener, the calm voice of reason, and our unofficial (but very appreciated!) counsellor when things get busy. And as this photo proves, she’s not afraid to roll up her sleeves either! Here she is in our new case making workshop, getting stuck in painting one of the new workbenches – showing us all that no job is too big or too small, and that she’s just as handy with a paintbrush as she is with the accounts. Helen, thank you for everything you bring to the team – your dedication, your support, and your all-round can-do attitude. Here’s to many more years ahead! 👏
🏁 Formula 1 fans – this one’s for you… We’re opening our doors at International Logistics Centre and, alongside what we do in global logistics, we’ll be showcasing something truly special… A rare Lotus Formula 1 car — one of only a handful remaining worldwide. One of its sister cars was driven by Martin Donnelly, whose high-speed crash at the 1990 Spanish Grand Prix remains one of the most talked-about moments in F1 history. It’s a powerful reminder of just how far safety in the sport has come. Going Green – More Than You Might Expect 🌿 When you think of a busy logistics site, woodland walks and wildlife habitats probably aren’t the first things that come to mind—but that’s exactly what’s growing here. Hidden within our 11-acre site is a small woodland area that, until recently, had been left untouched. This year, thanks to a wonderful local couple, it’s being transformed into a thriving space for nature. Using leftover timber from our operations—upcycling at its best—they’ve created bird boxes, bug hotels, and natural habitat hedges. Wildflower seeds have been planted, and even a small pond has been introduced, already attracting new visitors. It’s becoming a haven for wildlife, and we’re looking forward to seeing it develop and blossom through the seasons. It’s also a peaceful space for our team to enjoy—a chance to step away from the pace of the day, get some fresh air, and recharge. This initiative forms part of our wider decarbonisation programme, delivered in partnership with the University of Derby through the De-Carbonise project. As a busy logistics centre, we’re conscious of the carbon impact created by HGVs and forklift trucks, so we’ve focused on introducing more greenery across the site—from planted fields and flower beds to trees, shrubs, and even bee hives, now producing local honey. Alongside this, we’ve invested in sustainable infrastructure, including redesigned drainage systems and reed beds to support water management and biodiversity. For us, being “green” isn’t just a statement—it’s about making meaningful, lasting changes for both our people and the environment. And sometimes, it starts with a once-forgotten woodland. 🌱
🥊 Supporting a Powerful Community Initiative at Suggy’s Boxing Gym At International Logistics Centre, we’re proud to support a fantastic community project being led by Suggy's Boxing Gym. Suggy’s isn’t just a boxing gym — it’s a place where young people build confidence, discipline and support networks. Now they’re working to take that impact even further by creating a new Alternative Provision classroom, providing a dedicated learning space for young people who may struggle in traditional school environments. This initiative will help give local young people the chance to stay engaged with education while benefiting from the positive structure and mentorship that the gym already provides. Because of the incredible work Suggy’s does in our community — and because our company owner has longstanding ties with the gym — we’re delighted that International Logistics Centre has donated £500 towards the fundraising campaign. But this is a community effort, and more support will help bring the classroom to life.
