🏁 Formula 1 fans – this one’s for you… We’re opening our doors at International Logistics Centre and, alongside what we do in global logistics, we’ll be showcasing something truly special… A rare Lotus Formula 1 car — one of only a handful remaining worldwide. One of its sister cars was driven by Martin Donnelly, whose high-speed crash at the 1990 Spanish Grand Prix remains one of the most talked-about moments in F1 history. It’s a powerful reminder of just how far safety in the sport has come. Going Green – More Than You Might Expect 🌿 When you think of a busy logistics site, woodland walks and wildlife habitats probably aren’t the first things that come to mind—but that’s exactly what’s growing here. Hidden within our 11-acre site is a small woodland area that, until recently, had been left untouched. This year, thanks to a wonderful local couple, it’s being transformed into a thriving space for nature. Using leftover timber from our operations—upcycling at its best—they’ve created bird boxes, bug hotels, and natural habitat hedges. Wildflower seeds have been planted, and even a small pond has been introduced, already attracting new visitors. It’s becoming a haven for wildlife, and we’re looking forward to seeing it develop and blossom through the seasons. It’s also a peaceful space for our team to enjoy—a chance to step away from the pace of the day, get some fresh air, and recharge. This initiative forms part of our wider decarbonisation programme, delivered in partnership with the University of Derby through the De-Carbonise project. As a busy logistics centre, we’re conscious of the carbon impact created by HGVs and forklift trucks, so we’ve focused on introducing more greenery across the site—from planted fields and flower beds to trees, shrubs, and even bee hives, now producing local honey. Alongside this, we’ve invested in sustainable infrastructure, including redesigned drainage systems and reed beds to support water management and biodiversity. For us, being “green” isn’t just a statement—it’s about making meaningful, lasting changes for both our people and the environment. And sometimes, it starts with a once-forgotten woodland. 🌱
🥊 Supporting a Powerful Community Initiative at Suggy’s Boxing Gym At International Logistics Centre, we’re proud to support a fantastic community project being led by Suggy's Boxing Gym. Suggy’s isn’t just a boxing gym — it’s a place where young people build confidence, discipline and support networks. Now they’re working to take that impact even further by creating a new Alternative Provision classroom, providing a dedicated learning space for young people who may struggle in traditional school environments. This initiative will help give local young people the chance to stay engaged with education while benefiting from the positive structure and mentorship that the gym already provides. Because of the incredible work Suggy’s does in our community — and because our company owner has longstanding ties with the gym — we’re delighted that International Logistics Centre has donated £500 towards the fundraising campaign. But this is a community effort, and more support will help bring the classroom to life. 🌷 Celebrating the Women of Our Team 🌷 This International Women’s Day, we’re proud to celebrate the incredible women who are part of our work family. Each of them contributes to the success of our business in their own unique way — bringing different perspectives, skills, personalities and that all-important female touch that helps make our team what it is today. While we operate in a traditionally male-dominated industry, and our female colleagues may be in the minority within our workforce, their impact is anything but small. Their dedication, professionalism and teamwork play a huge part in keeping everything moving smoothly day in and day out. What made this year’s celebration especially heartwarming was a thoughtful gesture from our colleague Serhii, who brought in beautiful bouquets of tulips for all the women in the team on Friday. 🌷 It’s something he has done every year since joining us — a deeply rooted tradition in Ukraine where men give flowers, particularly tulips, to the women in their lives to mark the occasion. It’s a simple gesture, but one that meant a lot and certainly gave our ladies that well-deserved Friday feeling!
