Case Study
Conveyor & Handling Equipment – Export Packing & Shipping To Pakistan
Our packing division, International Export Packers were recently contracted to pack conveyors, handling and vibratory equipment into 15 plywood cases, designed and manufactured in-house.
Once packed, our team then loaded and secured the cases into x15 40ft high cube containers for shipping to Pakistan.
The shipping and documents were all arranged in-house by our shipping division Tradefreight International
Each of the 15 cases had to be foil lined to prevent rust and corrosion whilst in transit to Pakistan. The packed cases had a number of silica gel bags in them to help absorb any moisture that got into cases.
Using heat treated timber, all of the equipment was blocked out at the base to ensure no movement whilst being moved and in transit. The items were then secured with timbers along the sides and ends as well as from the top, ensuring everything was fully secured.
The only slight challenge we had with this contract was a large gantry that could only fit inside the container on its side. However to build a case just for that one piece would mean it wouldn’t fit inside the container.
It was then decided to build a case for the gantry and then pack that inside a case holding a panel. This ensured both the gantry and the panel were safely secured, even when being moved, whilst still being able to fit it inside the container.
Conveyor Packing & Shipping To Pakistan
Our mobile packing team packed all of the equipment at the customers site. We then collected the packed cases and brought them back to our Newark depot where we then loaded the cases into the containers.
Our Newark depot comprises of two 60 tonne overhead gantry cranes, container lifter, loading ramps and fork trucks from 3.5tonne up to 18tonne.
The cases were loaded into the containers over the coarse of 2 days. All shipping and documentation was arranged in-house through our shipping department.
